Defiantly has its flaws but could have some very nice endgame pvp if they pull it off properly. Limited public battlekeeps for players to hold sieges against each other.
Heres a dev post concerning PVE raid content and usability of raid loot.

We are planning to have a item based raid levelling system, currently there are 3 tiers of raids and raid loot plans, of increasing strength, that will basicly allow you to start working on the next tier, they have a very interesting and creative solution going on where the way raid works and PvE works is very solid.
The distribution: We were in a unique situation where most of our classes can be considered hybrid classes, and due to the generic system we use for what people can equip, a lot of the loot that drops will be usable by most of the classes most of the time.
As far as I know there aren’t any current plans for dropping any “necromancer” item, or Dark Templar item and if your not one of those you just gotta let it roll…
If i can log in an play for a few hours a week this game would work for me.

If you pre-order the game you will be allowed into the world of Hyboria several days prior to the official opening of the servers, which is set for May 20th in North-America and May 23rd in Europe. This is what we call the Early Access program.
By pre-ordering the game from a retailer that retailer will supply you with a pre-order key. You can use this key to purchase Early Access from the Funcom website for $5 / 5€.
Note that Early Access is exclusively available to those who pre-order. The characters you create during your Early Access period will still be available to you once the servers officially open. Early Access will require you to download the game yourself.
The dates for Early Access are as follows:
Europe: Registration and sales of Early Access open on May 2nd. Download of the client for early access from May 16th, and you can start playing from May 20th.
North-America: Registration and sales of Early Access open on May 2nd. Download of the client for early access from May 13th, and you can start playing from May 17th.
Purchasing Early Access will not only give you the chance to jump into Conan’s world before the rest of the world, but it will also give you ten extra days of free play time. These ten days are added to your thirty days of free play that is included in the retail

As a reward for pre-ordering Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures some retailers offer exclusive in-game items. Note that not all retailers offer pre-order items, so be sure to familiarize yourself with what the different retailers reward you with for pre-ordering. Note that you may not be able to use your pre-order reward item during the Early Access period.
Claiming your in-game pre-order item is easy. When you pre-order the game you will be provided with a pre-order key. By using this key when you create an account, all characters created on that account will have access to the item from that point onwards. The items themselves are claimed inside the game, and you will receive more information on how to do that at a later time.

The War Mammoth
The War Mammoth is a massive, but slow mount that does tremendous damage in player-versus-player battles. These gargantuan beasts, mounted by skilled riders, stride across the blood-soaked fields as mighty battleships set to conquer some unknown harbor. A vital instrument in any siege attack, a War Mammoth may very well determine the outcome of a battle. Employing these beasts in your attack means that you can break down walls and damage buildings even without siege weapons.
Those receiving the War Mammoth will also get an inventory bag from the beginning of the game, as the mount itself can not be used until you reach the required level for using mounts in the game.
The Killer Rhino
The Killer Rhino is a less powerful but quicker mount, speed packed into a body intended to maim and slaughter. On their backs, skilled riders fight for control, carefully employing them in battle where the death of many is required in as short time as possible. In siege battles the Killer Rhino is a potent yet dangerous instrument of death thanks to its ability to brutally plow through large masses of enemies in a quick, brutal and lethal frenzy.
Those receiving the Killer Rhino will also get an inventory bag from the beginning of the game, as the mount itself can not be used until you reach the required level for using mounts in the game.
Amazon Curved Bow
From the fabled dark jungles of Amazonia the female warriors of Gamburu are well known for their combat prowess with bronze bladed shortswords and curved bows alike. At the cost of many brave lives, Hyrkanian raiders brought home a handful of the unique Amazonian bows, now mostly found in the black markets of Aquilonia. This weapon can be used from level 25 onwards by characters with proficient bow-skill.'
Other items
Depending on which retailer you choose there are also other rewards being made available. This includes booklets such as the Hyborian Guide which is a full-color guide to key locations, monsters and the cultures of Conan’s world. Another booklet made available provides an introduction to the game’s key features. You can get an overview on who is offering what pre-order item by visiting the various retailers through the official Age of Conan website.
If you really want to invest in Age of Conan, why not get yourself a Collector’s Edition of the game? While the regular edition rocks in ways, the Collector’s Edition rocks in every way. Not only do you get a beautifully designed box, it’s also full of loot!

Indeed, Will be posting the server my RL buddies and I will be rolling on, there is likely to be multiple PVP (and some PVP RE / Faction Most likely) If any didnt know, you play the first 20 levels as a single player game (with some limited online play) So it may be possible to pick the server you will be playing on at lvl 20, instead of level 1. Not 100% sure, but a point for all of the pre launch players to note.

apparently they are giving out 5k beta invites on may 1st.
I applied over a year ago and havent heard shit.
My friend is in the Technical Beta and he is allowed to download the file but only allowed to log in certain times.
