Hows your general view of the game? Minus the lag, *crosses fingers* we assuming that is at least drasitically lessened (not fixed, lets be realistic) by launch. Whats yahls favorite classes and why? Gimme details!!! :D

the game has gotten a lot better since the last patch, but the memory leak seems to be a lot worse now that everyone can play the game rather smoothly (guessing more stuff being loaded and poorly unloaded).

For release I am putting up a vent server for those of us heading over to try it. I will post the info here later when it gets set up for those interested in rolling together.

Btw the Hearld xictol is fun, picture a warlock that can teleport onto groups of people with the addition of heavy melee attacks.

Saturdays lag was off the scale, total mass zerging in every place once u decided to leave one of the cities, that is if u could actually leave a city when u have 50 ppl in the docks.

Every class seems good in pvp as long as they get the jump.

barbarians rock at pvp.

My friend and me took down a level 42. He of course was the barb and i was playing the ranger.

Clobber is way overpowered.

I wish i would have had fraps running. This healer is flying out of town on her horse and I nail her with my bow.

I think she thought we were just goofing around because he was 23 and i was 21.

Well needless to say we took her down. She got the jump on us the 2nd time and we still killed her :).

Heres my current assessment from playing in the open and closed betas for a few weeks.

The engine still has issues and they just announced sieges are going to be 49 vs 49 at launch (kind weak). I had canceled my on line preorder after the may 2nd patch because the engine was a mess, but they made lots of improvements in the last two patches. The improvements were enough to make me want to be there at launch. I just got a gamestop preorder key today so I'm gonna play for the 10 days you get with head start and decide if its worth buying then.

It looks like funcom is busting their ass and the last patches have sorted a lot of issues with performance, and PVP feels much smoother. There are still crashing and performance issues for many players. (with only 7 days until official launch)

The problem is that this close to launch is not the time to be fixing the stability of your game engine considering its the foundation of everything. Content wise the game is entertaining but there are still the same cookie cutter quests that I've yet to see any MMO break free from. Combat is more visceral feeling than any previous MMO I have played and defiantly has a more arcade like feel than EQ/EQII. The 14 year old in me cant help but think that fatalities kick ass... especially in pvp. Overall I do find the combat system enjoyable, but that might simply be becasue its still new.

Class depth is weak at the lower levels but becomes more pronounced at higher levels. The healing classes can do more damage and crowd control than they can in most games. As opposed to the "stand back and repeatedly click heal" formula a lot of games impose on them.

Performance wise its similar to eq2 at launch; will eat previous gen hardware alive if you want the game to look good.

eats my gaming rig to pieces.

Friend of mine has a quad core with 2 GTX in SLI mode and he run in low.

Patches have made a difference over the last few days.

Pvp is lots of fun.

Still lots of class imbalance but they are addressing it.

Clobber 1 for barbs was way over powered.

I simply drew the conclusion based on my personal testing with a few previous gen cards (512MB x1800xt and a 256MB 6800). Entirely playable on medium and low respectively but crappy perfomance in cities.

Judging from the forums theres a huge discontinuity when it comes to game performance on various systems... thats one of the reasons I'm saying the engine is fucked up.

No idea, it said Early Access was going to have limited servers available so I dunno. Also Eearly Access is closed and they cant get more ppl in.

I will probably be starting on RP-PVP.

Reg pvp will be a massive group of 17 year olds who think that killing greys and their e-peen = WORLD DOMINATION!

The flame wars are already going on all over various Conan forums where the most immature WoW-bies are declaring their server domination for an unreleased game... very few of them appear to be set on the RP server because they are generally given a bit more attention by GMs.

If anyone has a vent they are gonna be hanging out in for the head start hook me up. I haven't really spent much actual play time in beta so I didn't meet any people to play with.

IMHO RP servers blow.

Nobody role plays, there are still 12 year olds etc.

Had a friend of mine banned for reporting his own name violation in DAOC so i dont really need the bullshit.

I plan on getting ganked, and ganking. 10,12,14,30,50(huror) or 60, i'm there to kill and have a good time doing it.

Mature players will find each other, kids will play with kids.

I'm not sure what mythic has to do with how funcom runs thier games and I'm not looking for roleplaying. I am not encourgaing anyone to play there; nor have I asked any of the people in and out of our guild who keep talking to me about the game to actually play at all; Let alone wich server they should play on....

I simply stated what server I will try starting on and why. (In response to somone asking)

Maybe its because I asked about vent and said I didn't have people to "play with" that made it seem like I wanted people to play on RP. If so, I apologize I should have said people to "talk to".

The more I read up on various forums the more I am intent on at least starting on the RP server, based on the overall mentality of the other players/guilds that talk about playing there. I also like the rules funcom are considering for the RP servers.
