Hey all,

Old skool Mid/Guin here. Wraven, saw your post on our WoW guild forums (www.bootybaybandits.com) about EQ2 PvP server coming. What I have heard about EQ2 PvP sounds encouraging. It certainly has to be better than WoW's PvP or lack thereof. I'm looking for something new, so I might give EQ2 a try.

I'm not familiar with EQ2, so I'll have to do some research into classes etc. Anything class/race suggestions?

Howdy...

Yes, this topic has piqued many of our interest over on the BBB boards.

I'll be trying it out, and as long as it provides a viable end game through PvP, I will most likely stick around.

As anyone who has played WoW to 60 can attest, it gets pretty stagnant.

Heya, I sent you a PM caddi.

I'll update your access and if you like to raid..get uber loots, do progress quests that actually give a decent reward for time invested, and stab fools in neck.

EQ2 is the game for you!

Content + PVP = great game (IMO of course)

I wouldn't say I *like* to raid....

I will raid if necessary though. As long as I can go out and donkey punch fools with most of my time and make some sort of progression. :D

I wont sugar coat it..raiding is going to be extremely important.

Question:
Why?

Answer:
Gear...its going to play an extremely important roll in PVP.

Also the KOS expansion (coming out on the 21st as well) is going to add ability points..this is very close to what they have in EQ1 called "Alternative advancements". This is almost like realm ranks in DAOC but there are several diffrent ways to earn them.

Well my main gripe with the raiding in WoW, and what sets it apart from DAoC, is the limit on numbers.

Does EQ2 have that?

With my schedule I can't make most of the scheduled raids ran by our Coop on WoW on time. Now they are usually going on for an hour or two after I am available, but since it's a set number of people I still can't attend.

The system just seems to breed exclusion and makes it that much harder to break into any raiding cycle that available.

Fill me in on the EQ2 raiding style, if you will. :)

EQ2 does have a 24 person raid limit.

Raid mobs (which there are alot of) are marked by X2 x3 and x4

X2 means 12 people can kill it for a reward (no more then 12 though)

x3 is 18 people

x4 is 24 people

There are instanced raids with diffrent lock out timers depending on success or failure.

There are the "contested" raids which are mobs that spawn in the open world and have a set respawn and basicly its a first come first serve for what ever guild gets them.

We use a DKP system for our raids which does drive attendance. Karma has never really had a problem with people being left out of a raid as we manage our guild roster pretty closely. Our optomal number is going to be around 60 members, in which we can hope for about a 50% attendance and thus be able to go after the x4 raid mobs.

Our raid system (which is detailed on the left hand side of the website under raid loot policy) covers alot of this.

Example: Say you show up late to a raid and we are already started. If you remain "On Deck" (which is in the parent zone or the actual zone) then you still earn DKP for the raid and you are able to bid on the loot. This make it were people do not feel left out should something like that occur. It also enables the raid to keep on going should someone have to log early or someone goes LD and never comes back.
